Pharmacological Actions

Various phytoconstituents like nitrates, arbutin and Quinoline derivates, present in Stonecrush, exert potent anti-microbial effect against the various garm psoitive and gram negative bacteria viz. E. Coli, Staphylococci, Streptococci, pseudomonas, klebsielal and proteus species. Stonecrush establishes the synergism of various herboconsitituents and thus corrects abnormalities and prevents the process of calcul formation simultaneously toning the renal system. Varun active principle called Triterpine Varuna have been reported to reduce the urinary excretion of calcium as the exretory rates of sodium and magnesium is increased. It is inferred that the drug alters the relative proportions of urinary calcium magnesium and sodium which are involved in the relative proportion of urinary stones has been clinically established for its role in prostate enlargement. The clinical study revealed that the patients gradually improved and ultimately 60% of the patients showed complete symptomatic relief. Increased blood ura was reduced to normal in about 80% of the patients. The tone of the urinnary bladder was also improved and the quantity of residual urine was alos reduced to normal. Decoction of the bark had isgnification effects in prostatic hypertrophy with hypotonic bladder. Cytometric studies showed that treatmetn with Varuna increased the bladder tone and expulsive force of urination ad the associated pain was relived.
Punarnava contain active alkoliod principal boeravinone anabolizing has been established for it snormilizing effects in blood urea dn serum creatinine. The medication with Punarnava decreases blood urea levesl from 90.54 -+ 8.946 to 69.8 +- 6.349mg/dl and significant reduction in serum creatinine from 7.50 -+ 0.51mg/dl was observed. Punarnava showed increased urinary output with decreasing urinary albumin and reduction in specific gravity of urine studies suggests that drug may have some effect on protein metabolism through it srole on liver, serum protein level and reduced urinary protein excretion in patients of nephritic syndrome. It was due to its membranes stabilizing and anti-inflammatory effects. It also lowered the immune complex and increased immunoglobulins. Clinically Punarva proved to be a sueful and safe drug in patients of nephritic syndome.
Manjistha i.e. rubia cordifolia contains activa principel alkaloid manjisthin help's in crumbling of calculi of calcium phosphate; but uberythrinic acid present enables to dissoolve oxalate stone as well.
